The Last Dance of the Debutante
by Julia Kelly
The setup was fascinating but the later elements of the plot, with assumed affairs, illegitimacy, blackmail, abandonment, and death, were overly dramatic and didn't feel necessary. I was much more interested in the tension between the lightness of the Season with the seriousness of the results debs were expected to reach, especially in a changing world.
