I have long felt that organized religion is toxic, but found it hard to articulate what it was exactly I hated so much. Luckily, Dawkins says it all for me: it's the rigid denial of scientific fact, the indoctrination and terrorization of children, it's the smug righteousness, and more than anything, it's the fact that our modern society still insists faith is so important that it cannot be questioned, even when action otherwise flies in the face of our laws and basic human beliefs. This is a fascinating read full of science and logic and thought and feels like an appeal to that most human part of all of us. (And no, the most human part of us has nothing to do with religion.)
