It's a RomCom movie in words with a tad more emotional support. Chloe is the best friend of Annie (from the first book), and the basis for the heroine of the movie Annie wrote, and the film is coming out. Since based on Chloe's weird relationship with her boss, who owns the coffee place that she works, it makes for a bizarre work environment, and that underlying, unresolved tension only comes up to the surface when the movie comes out - based on their lives. Tension breaks, and only in the movie scenarios happen. HEA, or at least a path for a couple, is definite and resolved.

The only thing that bugged me and was eventually resolved (out of character for a RomCom Romance book) is that Chloe does get angry (finally, and rightly so) at Annie using her life as inspiration for her screenplay and therefore movie without asking if it was okay. This "fight" is after an entertainment news site kept hounding Chloe for a statement. She stated that Her and her Boss, Nick, were not dating. Annie got pretty annoyed about the bad press for the movie. Seriously, consent is everything.

Other than that moment, that sort of bugged me until the verbal smackdown between best friends, it was a delightful 90s-esque RomCom that would start Tom Hanks as the hero.
