The Widow is a book I picked up because I kept seeing it and Barton's second book, The Child, basically everywhere. I enjoyed the plot but something just seemed to be missing when all was said and done... and I can't quite put my finger on it. The beginning of the book was incredible and then there was a little lull amidst some police investigations... and the ending underwhelmed me. A few more pages should have been devoted to THAT moment in my opinion. But still a quick, easy read and I give it a solid 3.5 out of 5. I will be picking up The Child at some point - Barton's an author to look out for!
