Sarah's Key
by Tatiana de Rosnay
A heartbreaking, emotional tale about a sister who will stop at nothing to save her little brother.
Sarah, a ten year old French girl is rounded up along with her parents in the Vel' d'Hiv Jewish round-up. Before she is taken, she manages to lock her brother in a cupboard, thinking they will back to release him. But Sarah and her parents are detained and then taken to concentration camps and Sarah fights back determined to return to her little brother and save him.
I was really carried along with this tale, the switch between Sarah and modern day Julia investigating her story and then her search to find Sarah. It was intense and emotional and you felt for Sarah and Julia with each new horrifying and heartbreaking discovery.
