Piranesi
by Susanna Clarke
The less you know about this book, and the more you lean into your 'willing suspension of disbelief', the more you'll enjoy it. What I will give is: told via journal entries, we learn about a man named Piranesi, an enchanting house, and the residents that haunt the halls. It is original, mesmerizing, and unexpected, while also showing how authors do not need to write 600+ page tomes in order to build stunning words and tell un-put-down-able stories.
