I Hunt Killers
by Barry Lyga
Jazz is the son of a serial killer -- raised to be one himself, he was spared somewhat when his father went to prison. Lyga has crafted a harrowing story that throws both nature and nurture back at Jazz and asks if he can rise above his blood and his upbringing. And when a new serial killer shows up in town, Jazz has to decide if he can fight his own interest in death long enough to step back and help the investigation all while keeping his girlfriend happy and somehow passing his classes. A fascinating psychological effort and a damn thrilling story.
