Friendly Fire by Lynn Seresin
4.0

This book was a bit darker than the first one. The characters each had their own insecurities that needed to be worked out and some new players came onto the scene. I liked the simplistic life of the first book, Thin Air, a bit more- but nothing can stay easy forever, right? Friendly Fire picks up a little bit after the end of Thin Air.

Alice is finally adjusting to life as a human, but Daniel isn't making it much easier for her. He doesn't want her to change at all. Personally, I thought he overreacted a lot throughout the book. He didn't even want her to wear any kind of makeup- at all! At the same time, I understand that he is under an immense amount of pressure looking for the Dark Legion. That can't be an easy thing to deal with; never knowing if you are safe or not. But that still doesn't give him an excuse to be an overbearing bonehead. Which he was, for almost the entire book. Even though Daniel was not my ideal guy this book, I had seen him be sweet and charming in the first book and I kept holding out hope that he would snap out of his funk and be the old daniel again.

Terrence was no better. I will just come right out and say it- I didn't like Terrence. Even after EVERYTHING that happened in Friendly Fire, I am still on team Daniel. Terrence just seems shady to me, and it just feels like the only way he can get Alice is if he manipulates her feelings and makes her like him. And something about that just rubs me the wrong way.

This book was really interesting and I liked seeing all the new people work their way into the story line but Friendly Fire was a lot sadder than Thin Air and that bummed me out a little. Take the ending, for example, I am not a fan of the ending. But it totally makes me want to read book 3 ASAP! So I guess in that sense, it did it's job- but I still don't have to like how this book ended. I just want certain people to pull their head out of their butt and just be happy! haha But overall, Friendly Fire was a really good second installment in the Thin Air Saga!
