I actually really enjoyed this book! It was spicy. It was a little other-worldly - but not in a ghost story way. It was full of mystery and so so many Edgar Allan Poe references that made my heart so happy. Another book from my TBR that made me wonder: WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?

There were some editorial issues but I enjoyed the story so I overlooked them. Admittedly, if the story and world-building had been junk (to me, this part is obviously subjective) I wouldn’t have been able to overlook the editorial issues. I also heard that the edits were made in the audio version and it’s better. Maybe I should have listened to it instead…

I loved the age of the main characters. Finally a gothic dark romance where it wasn’t an 18-year-old! This made the story more believable and also more endearing. I related to Corvina so much.
