A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
by Holly Jackson
This was such a fun murder mystery. Pip is a high school senior who decides to solve a murder for her senior project. The problem is, the case is five years old and has already been solved. Pip is sure that Sal Singh did not murder his girlfriend, Andie Bell, but no one else in town agrees. With the help of Sal’s brother, Ravi, Pip sets off to prove the town wrong.
This book is YA so you do need to go into it knowing a high school student is the person solving this case. I really liked Pip as a character. She is spunky and seems fearless. I like that she broke some rules for her project and enlisted Ravi as her partner. There was one part of the book that I found unnecessary which brought my rating down from 5 to 4 stars (trigger - death of a pet), but otherwise I thought the author did a great job with her debut novel. I’m looking forward to book 2 in the series.
