I wanted to give this five stars as it’s such a valuable book, but did find it quite dense and difficult to read at times. But the analysis is still as relevant today; groundbreaking when the book was first published. It explores the racist tactics employed by feminism at its origin in America, unpicks how it grew as a movement for middle-class white women only (something that you still see in many feminist movements today). It begins to look at intersectionality, something that we take for granted in analysis of race and feminism today. While I think it’s a shame that women and men are viewed as straight and binary in this analysis, many of the points raised are still as valid today in the more complex conversations we have on equality and human rights. A must read.
