The Song of Us
by J.D. Barrett
Copy received from publisher for an honest review
I have had this book sitting next to me for months, waiting for me to get the time to read it, and I finally laid down this week and got it done.
JD Barrett is a new to me author, however after reading The Song Of Us, I will definitely be keeping her on my radar.
Zoe Wylde is my kind of woman. She's a little bit quirky, has an unusual job, and she just want what everyone else wants. A home, a family, love.
And she is on a voyage of self discovery, re-finding her worth, to herself and to others.
I loved that she did a lot of this through others too. Whilst taking on their wishes, she finds herself again.
There is a very eclectic cast of characters, some that I loved and some that I loathed (some I really loathed.
I really enjoyed the writing, and once I picked the book up, I was just "one more chapter" and losing myself in the book for another hour. I loved it being set mostly in Bondi as I was able to visualise the area well.
The way the book ended, let's just say that I hope we get a little bit more of those characters sometime in the future.
