The best place to start with this review is to say that this is not a dark romance; it is an erotic horror/splatterpunk. This book is a masterful buildup of horror, and there is a distinct moment when you know something is about to go down. The MMC, Kent, has a kink that he tries to satisfy in a publicly acceptable way. Then one day, in an ad, he finds a like-minded FMC, Mona. At first, he has his doubts, but then he goes all in and explores his fantasies with someone like-minded. In the back of his mind, he doesn't know if he can trust her or himself. This story was gory, surprising, and a good read. At the end of this book, I was slack-jawed in the best way. So if erotic horror/splatterpunk is your thing, this book is for you.
