No spoilers, but the main tragedy in this book wrecked me. It's one of those moments when you want to throw your book against the wall. This didn't take away from me enjoying the book, but I never saw the death coming! It was so powerfully written, just as well as Calaena's reaction to it. We get to see so much more of Calaena's raw strength, which leads to a big realization. So much new information was being thrown at us, it was like the big reveal scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Except that instead of a big reveal chapter, the reveals were just happening all the time! My two main thoughts are: I'm liking Calaena as a character more and more and I can't wait to learn more about her, and thank goodness Fleetfoot made it through.
