The White Devil by Paul Hoffman
5.0

I'm sorry to see there are no reviews for this book because it's weird and fascinating at the same time.
It's hard to find the world because it's alternate history, there're some elements of dystopia and a not-so-veiled satire of politics.
Thomas Cale is a complex character on the moral grey side of the spectrum. He's arrogant, knows what he can achieve but it's also a man with a story of child abuse and gaslighting.
I think he's the highlight of this book. I didn't know if I wanted to hate or love him, surely i was charmed.
The style of writing is the most distinctive tract: a mix of backstories, documents and thriller.
Even if it's out of my comfort zone I couldn't put it down as the author is a talented storyteller.
I wish the best for this book and I think it could be appreciated by people who love alternate history.
I strongly recommend it.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
