After reading this book, I’m very disheartened by the sabotage it suffered pre-release. If you have been avoiding The Ones We Burn based on rumors and hearsay from the bookternet hive mind, consider giving it a chance. The complex themes and messages here are masterful and I miss the cast already. Truly, my greatest complaint is that there wasn’t a map. I’m very much looking forward to seeing Rebecca Mix grow in her evident talent.
