Drawn in by the beautiful cover, I have been reading this book on and off since September. It is a collection of folklore and fairy tales from cultures around the world featuring witches or similar beings.
- I suppose it makes sense as it is a collection of stories but the language and tone of each tale varies drastically. Some are written very plainly and clearly, others written in an accent or old-fashioned language. I don't mind this but I would have preferred it to be consistent as the jumping around made it hard to switch from sorry to story.
- The collection of tales itself is quite broad considering this was originally published in the early 90s. That said there is a slight slant towards western and specifically British and Irish tales so if you're looking for a fully world spanning trip, this may not quite hit the spot.
An interesting little book which I would recommend to those beginning to look into folklore or witchcraft.
