(Read in February 2019 and forgot to add review here)
Kerrigan Byrne’s The Duke I give 4 stars. I thought it was extremely good and definitely reread-able for me.
Cole and Imogen meet each other early in the book and have an encounter that neither is able to forget, even years later. During those separated years, they both go through changes of character, grow in strength and unfortunate experiences.
I did enjoy both main characters. Imogen I found extremely likeable, witty, and I was just rooting for her the whole story.
Cole has probably been the hardest hero for me to like of this series, just a few things he did and said. With his background it was understandable to me though. I felt like you don’t get as much detail about what he goes through as you do the other heroes in the Victorian rebel series. Their darkness in their lives that helps you understand why they are the way they are. I did still want him to have his HAE.
This book wasn’t 5 star for me for a few personal reasons. There was a decent amount of ‘separation’ in this book. I wish there had been maybe a kiss or two throughout more of the middle of the book to balance out the steam (it’s concentrated in the beginning and end). I also felt like the ending happened too fast. When they finally see each other and let their relationship progress it was almost over.
Still I really liked it. I love the writing and the sex and kisses have so much feeling and emotion in them. They always make me feel.
