Effectively two barely-connected stories, separated by vast periods of time. Both were interesting, with the shared narrator really bringing charm to the Well, that and the spin the Patience of the Hill put on the goings-on in the present.
I was hooked by the interactions between the gods and the people, and couldn't wait to see how things turned out and connected up.
