I won a copy of Aftertaste in the Books of Horror Facebook group. Never having read any of Brett O'Reilly's work, I had no particular expectations going in. I was very, very pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this collection! There's something for everyone here - vampires, werewolves, the occult, creepy creatures, and a town with some very dark secrets. Standout stories include Between the Lines, Sanctuary, Broken, and Orpheus Wept. Immediately upon finishing the book, I bought the author's novelette Lord of Playgrounds. I'm very much looking forward to his first novel and I hope I haven't seen the last of Darkwater.
