Death's Ink-Black Shadow by John Wiltshire
4.0

"Did you know that pound for pound for the human body gives out more heat than the sun? We burn, Benjamin."

this book made me very emotional. it was interesting to read almost entirely from ben's pov, and the dissonance from his perspective to what was truly going on was interesting and, in the end, kinda heartbreaking.

this series is about this fierce, intense, all-consuming and faithful love story. ben and nikolas are delightful, and the added weight to nik's backstory, the things that come back to bite him, are devastating. got me kinda pensive and everything.

what a good series, and i remain delighted by the dialogue.

the one thing that still bothers me even six books is how they just don't use lube during sex. it always throws me out of it for a bit and it's annoying to disconnect from something that otherwise is often pretty well-written. annoying af.
