My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey
5.0

Tessa Bailey does it again! Her books are always must buys for me. I was really excited for this one, because it's not only romance but also a murder mystery, which is different than anything she has ever written.

This had some great tropes: forced proximity, muder mystery, vacation setting, age gap, bounty hunter hero, second grade teacher heroine. The smut in this was... well, it was HOT. I very much enjoyed that aspect, as it's just the right level of it for me. You could definitely feel the chemistry between Taylor and Myles. It was addicting. For this book being on somewhat of the shorter side (at least compared to her others), it really didn't feel that way and the pacing was perfect. It did leave me wanting more, but all of her books do that.

At first, Myles appeared to be just brooding and cold and uncaring but of course, Taylor was *that girl* for him. I very much appreciated how quickly he went from being uninterested and just wanting to get into town and sole the muder and get out, to not seeing a life without Taylor in it. The way he protected her at all costs... chef's kiss. Also, I adored her brother, Jude! I seriously want a sequel where we get to see Jude fall in love and get a happy ending (with Dante, perhaps...?) because he was just as integral to the story as the rest of them.

The best part was that Taylor was trying to discover her preferences after having had such vanilla sex for so long. She knew deep down that she wanted *more* if you catch my drift, but didn't know how to go about asking... well, cue Myles to the rescue because he was definitely a great teacher and - literally and figuratively, hehe - opened her up. She literally says, "On one hand, I'd like a man who makes a good living and wants a family someday. On the other hand, I'd like to be manhandled once in a while. Just sort of thrown down and told who is boss, you know?" OH, TAYLOR. Myles is AT YOUR SERVICE. She gets it. The dream of every girl, I'd say.

All in all, this was just such a fun summer read and had the perfect vibes. It clocked in at just under 300 pages, but it was such a wonderful ride from start to finish. TB is the queen, but we all knew that, right?
