This is a generational picture book. Elva want a violin. She heard someone playing and wants to make her own music. Her parent say no. Years pass, decades pass, and finally Elva gets her violin. However, she is not very good, and it gets put away. Until one day, when she takes lessons, and finds that she too can make her violin sing.

I was not expecting this book to flow over 50+ years. Elva only realizes her dream when she is an older woman with time on her hands. I think it is a great way to show that you are never too old to learn new things. It also shows that you will not be great at everything you try the first time. Sometimes it takes practice, practice, and still more practice. And while you may practice the world over, sometimes you will not be great, you will just be. A lovely story.
