This is so difficult to rate and review, so I'm not really going to try. This was the second time I read this novel, but the first was in high school and I don't remember much about it. Toni Morrison is an incredible writer and this provides so much insight into how our society harms those who don't fit in with certain standards of beauty. That is so clumsily and inarticulately written, but Toni Morrison had a whole novel to write about it and I tried to squeeze it into one sentence.

It was difficult and uncomfortable to read, but also important. I read several Toni Morrison books in high school and believe it's time to revisit them as an adult. Stay tuned!
