3.5, more like. I’m so ridiculously conflicted about this book. These characters are not the same as the ones from the first AT ALL, which really annoyed me, but when I did what the top review said and pretended this was a standalone it worked much better. It still didn’t live up to the hype (c’mon Brigid!! I wanted more Harper!! I wanted more (OG) Rhen!) but like. It’s not terrible. The plot isn’t always there but it did keep me interested & guessing, even though some things that were clearly meant to be “oh shit” moments just... weren’t? Anyway. I was really excited for this and I’m not even too disappointed bc I wasn’t super attached but. Eh.
