The High Lord by Trudi Canavan
4.0

There's just something about the way Trudi Canavan writes that completely sucks me in.

I first read the Black Magician Trilogy around four years ago and I loved it. I eventually bought myself the trilogy so I could re-read it whenever I want and only the best of the best make it to my bookshelf.

Sonea is an incredibly strong female character. She rarely shows weakness and is quick on her feet in tricky situations. The way she held herself through all the bullying could be pretty inspiring for any younger readers going through the same thing.

Like the first time I read The High Lord, the blossoming relationship between Sonea and Akkarin worked on me like a spell. I became sucked into something that I had never expected, but I fell irrevocably in love and my heart broke with Sonea's at the end when she realised he had given all of his power.(/spoiler>

And Sonea remains the steadfast character she had been throughout the trilogy, picking herself up and focusing on what she had to do which was to help her people.

I love anything this author writes and I'm making my way towards The Traitor Spy Trilogy which I hope is just as good!
