I am coming to the conclusion that this author is just not for me, and honestly, I should have realized as much by her bizarre choice of character names. I really did myself a disservice by purchasing the audiobook, as I was deeply uncomfortable throughout and had to take several breaks to recover from the paramount levels of cringe.

I usually enjoy a marriage of convenience plot line and a down bad MMC, but Sumner was obsessive to the point of creepy and “my wife” was so overdone. It was all so weird, cringey, and unserious, like who talks like this? Seeks out this kind of relationship? Keep any man like this away from me!!!!!

TLDR? I should have DNF’d sooner. Read at your own risk.
