It took awhile for me to get around to this one. It’s weird to read John Green now, with the awareness I have of how ardently people hate him, which makes me more critical of his work than I was when I first discovered it. I felt like I should dislike this book, and I was suspicious of myself when I didn’t. There were moments when my People Do Not Act Like This alarm pinged, but those moments don’t significantly mar what is a pretty spot-on depiction of one manifestation of anxiety. I saw a lot to relate to in Aza, and I enjoyed the eloquence that casts the mundane in the soft light of meaning and that characterizes all of Green’s books. Solid writing, and a good audio performance, though I hated having to imagine Rey and Chewbacca in a romantic relationship.
