Stephanie Meyer is back, but as her original audience has matured so has the author. This time she brings an semi-action packed adventure about a chemist on the run for her life. But this isn’t any ordinary chemist, is the the Black Ops best information gatherer. She can get anyone to talk. Anyone. But she’s been burned, and spent the last three years of her life running. Her only chance to get out alive is to stop a deadly virus from being deployed. Except, that too is a goose chase.
This story is full of twists and turns. It’s one part action, one part love story, and one part spy mission. It is a slow starter, but Meyer has done her research and most things sound plausible, if not probable. That is until the love story starts. If you were not a fan of the love story in Twilight, then be prepared to hate this one. It’s so one dimensional, overly sappy, and downright boring. It’s Edward, Bella, and Jacob all over again, except Alex (our heroine) is Jacob, and Daniel is the most annoying parts of Edward and Bella mixed together. Kevin is new, and actually a character that is likable, even if he is trying to kill you.

Overall the book is a steady read. More enjoyable for the older audience Twi-hards now are, but still on the cusp of great: I call it decent. One hundred years from now this will not still be sitting on library shelves, but it would be entertaining if found in an old dusty used book shop.
