Waste of Space by Gina Damico

Waste of Space is centered around a reality television show set in space... except it's all fake. The only people who know it is fake are the producers. The show is a tremendous success, except suddenly, things go wrong.

Waste of Space was okay. The idea is original, but there wasn't anything that hooked me into it. At the end of the book, I found myself trying to finish this book as quickly as I could so I didn't have to read anymore.

Also, the end of this book was quite abnormal. Yes, I know that was the point, but I felt like the book's tone shifted and in a totally different location. I felt like the story was quite okay before a wrench was thrown in and made things weird. It was like Season 1 of Riverdale, then it became Seasons 2-3. The first part was okay, but the end did not really fit the tone, style, or direction of the beginning. It went from contemporary with a dash of sci-fi to full out sci-fi.

Not only did the plot disappoint me, but the characters also did. The characters are stupid, unrealistic, and just plain unlikeable. They were written to fill out the stereotypical reality tv stars, but they are so bland and unenjoyable. They have terrible motivations and are just lame.

Yes, this book isn't in my favorite genre, but this book had so much potential with its story and I felt like it was Wasted (heh). This book didn't have anything that made me want to give it a better rating.

Coming back to this book a month later, I have decided this isn't a 3 or 2 star book, it is a 1 star book. I was being lenient, but now I know that this wasn't good.
