When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
4.0

I read and *spoilers* LOVED When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. This book is just so adorable and sweet. I absolutely adored our two Indian American main characters. It was interesting to see all of the Hindi words throughout the book, and I definitely learned about Indian fashion and culture as I read this book. As I was reading, I realized that I had never read a book with two Indian protagonists before.  I'm so glad this book is out in the world-- we all need to read more diversely and a book with such amazing Indian MCs was fantastic.

Dimple is a high school graduate who is passionate about coding, and is dying to go to a web design course over the summer. Her parents are a little overbearing and she doesn't think they will say yes to her expensive request that will mean she is away from home for 6 weeks before her first year of college. When they, unexpectedly, say yes to her, she is shocked. The only thing that could be more shocking is when the boy her parents want her to marry shows up to campus and greets her with a "hello future wife!"

My complaints for this book are really small------
One:
This story is super predictable and we all know that Dimple will resist Rishi. Rishi will be thoughtful and patient. There will be a fight that breaks them up because Dimple is scared. But they are in love. But you know what? I loved every second of it. Rishi is so adorable and sweet, and was definitely the type of boy I would have hardcore swooned over in high school.

Two:
Dimple continues to talk throughout the whole book about how passionate she is about coding and web design. She and Rishi are at a 6 week course for web design.... but we only see them in two classes. And one of those classes involves them leaving in two seconds after Dimple and Rishi are paired up for the summer and everyone is sent out on a photo scavenger hunt. I would have loved to see more #girlsthatcode in this book.

All that being said----If you're looking for a sweet high school-ish romance with several laugh-out-loud moments, definitely check out this book. I gave it 4.25/5 stars
