In a way it's always the same story (human and Trollkin find love and sex together) but I'll still read it every time. This one has an age gap relationship, with young and tiny Simka, and the old and grouchy Jar'kel.

Interestingly the series is seeming to develop a deeper plot around magic and human-Trollkin bondings being more widespread - this book has a whole community of Orc and human mates living together. Also kind of makes me want to reread the book with the captain and the lieutenant.
