Playing Hard to Get by Monica Murphy
5.0

Wow, I loved this one! So excited for this new group/generation of football players and their HEAs. At least I hope that we’re going to get the stories of some of Knox’s friends. Because I’m guessing at least one of them might be with one of his sisters based on this story.

But anyway, I liked the way the the two had their meet-cute, as well as all the ways they kept bumping into each other. It was nice to see how Knox figured out slowly that he was interested in her, or maybe quickly, but his feelings and interest developing was nice. Even if there was what I call a “Jake Ryan moment” where he said yeah it was nice to be able to get all the women he wanted but now he just wanted her. It’s like the scene in Sixteen Candles when Jake Ryan tells someone about how his girlfriend is built and all that, but he wants more. Always just seemed so yeah, right to me.

I digress though, because I did love how it all came together. I liked how the meeting between Joanna, or Jo-Jo as Knox liked to call her, and one of Knox’s exes went later in the story. While I haven’t read all of the books in the other earlier series by this author, I’ve read a few, and know enough to enjoy the parents in the book and how they are connected.

And the steam level was perfect, hot at the right times, sweet at the right times. Another wonderfully perfect new adult sports romance from Monica Murphy.
