The characters are lively with realistic problems and feelings. The town is quintessential small-town America, where everyone knows your name and pokes their nose in your business. I found myself engaged right along with Max and Charlotte as they dealt with their fears and troubles, growing and changing as they evaluated what they wanted for themselves and their lives.
