Autonomy
by Victoria Hetherington
The first chunk of this book was ok but it felt like a lot of problems were shoved into one rather than focusing on a single plot thread. The story started in the first few chapters os almost irrelevant towards the end. The story picks up towards the end of part 2 and into part 3 but I felt a little disconnected from the characters rather than wanting them to all end up happy.
I did enjoy the sci-fi apocalypse stuff towards the end and appreciated the lead up to it. There was a lot of talk about children and reproductive health for our main character Slaten to end up without a baby. I wanted just a bit more and I wanted ideas and themes that were mentioned repeatedly to mean something personal to the characters not just an overarching concept of the direction our world is heading.
