Nineteen Minutes
by Jodi Picoult
It took me awhile to get through this book. Not because it was bad, or boring or poorly written...simply because it was that emotional. I had to keep setting it aside and read something lighter and fluffier and then come back to it. Be prepared to go through a very trying and emotional time when you read this book.
Told in several points of view, this book goes through a school shooting. What leads up to it, the chaos in the midst of it and the aftermath including the trial. As a mother of three teenagers, two in High School and one in his last year of Middle School, it was horrifying to take a peek into what goes on in school and how cruel children can be to each other. I thought it was bad when I was in school but it only seems to have gotten worse.
I hope that when readers younger than me read this book, they take to heart how our actions and words can so deeply affect other people.
