This last volume wraps up the Big Time run Dan was on.

Now, if you look at all my ratings, I didn't love it. It was all over the place. The tone felt like it struggle to find it's place. Dan has strengths but also weaknesses (as does every writer) and Big time, being so long, shows both a lot.

So we have a story about Lizard. Remember him? You should. That motherfucker was horrifying last time. I mean he ate (spoiler) his own SON. Wtf? So this time he's back and Spider-man has to stop him. Then we have Alpha. A new kid with amazing powers who got them by accident thanks to Peter's experiment. Sounds familiar? Yep. Last story is about the Hobgoblins. Yes, with a S. The original returns and the two face off, or team up? OH NO!

Good: I really enjoyed the Lizard story. I actually love what they can do with the Lizard. Dan does a very solid job of making him sympathetic. Also gotta love the Hobgoblin story. Dan has one super strong positive this run, his new Hobgoblin has been soooooo fun. He's like a mix of old goblin but a out of control, very angry, little fuck. It works on so many levels. Watching two face off? Even better.

Bad: I thought the alpha story was easily the weakest. I understood Dan was trying to put Alpha and Peter next to each other to show how Peter COULD have been if he used his powers in public and showed who he was. However, I never liked Alpha. And I know Dan was doing that on purpose but I cared nothing about him. Not to mention last few issues are mostly just about him (and a spoiler to the next event) so yeah...was okay.

Overall this was a stronger volume than last one. I wish I could say it's been amazing but it hasn't. Dan def hits some very strong moments but filled with really odd moments and a lot of times I can't stand Peter. He's just not well done where's the side cast, especially villains, are. So a 2.5 out of 5 but I'll go with a 3 cause I did enjoy it more than disliked it.
