Hope! More Than Wishful Thinking by Gina Prosch is a great book to teach students and children the importance of having a growth mind set. It is important for students to understand that you get what you put in. Just hoping you do well on a test will not equal you doing well on a test. Gina Prosch gives students a great visual in the poster Holly and her mom made. They made an acronym poster for the word Hope. H is for Hard Work, O is for optimism, P is for perseverance, E is for Eventually you will get it. I LOVE this poster. As a teacher, I would love to have this poster in my classroom to remind students what it takes to be successful. I will be making this poster with my class and reading this book!

I also like that as much as it talks about hard work and perseverance it also says it is important to take breaks and do things you enjoy such as watch cat videos. The E in hope which stands for Eventually you will get it is an important concept. You may not get it YET- but you will with hard work. As teachers we talk about the power of yet and this book compliments that concept. While I think this book is geared towards third grade and up, it can be modified for younger grades.

A few other things that are so great about this book are the Tips for parents and educators at the back of the book and and the free downloadable pages to reinforce the concepts in the book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Gina Prosch for this beautifully illustrated book on an important concept that should be reinforced in classrooms and at home. I voluntarily read this book and gave my honest opinion.
