If I Stay by Gayle Forman
3.0

I really didn't enjoy this one.
No offense to the author, she sounds like a nice person and all.
This book constantly had me bored. Which is an issue when you're trying to read your annual book target.
There were a few parts of the book I found vaguely interesting, but right now I can't even remember which parts of the book those were. That's how interesting it was.
The idea is a good idea, but executed completely wrong, or at least, that's the feeling I get.
Maybe it's my fault for going straight from The Book Thief into this book, since Markus Zusak's novel is incredibly hard to beat. In fact, is there any book that could successfully follow The Book Thief while keeping the reader happy??
I found Mia's voice to be monotone in this story, even when humour or emotions were recounted, it fell flat.
I feel as though Forman had a much more detailed and deep world imagined inside her head, but that she struggled to transport it to paper, or was maybe too emotional in the process of doing so.
Maybe I'll read the sequel, but it's definitely not one I'm particularly bothered about.
