A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
4.5
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I really went back and forth on the rating for this one, but I think I've settled on a 4.5. I thought the first 300 pages were too slow and could have been condensed, and then I think the section on the Blood Rite at the end could have been longer (I would have happily read an entire book on this). I also just didn't care for Feyre and Rhys' storyline in this book and Azriel was way too absent. Also, why does someone have to die and be resurrected at the end of every single one of these books??? Slightly overdone now.

Loved Nesta's character, and I love the way her arc of self-acceptance was written. I fully cried when she did after hiking with Cassian, although that was a bit too real Sarah thank you.
The Valkyries were incredible and this is where my debate with the rating really struggles - fully a 4 star maximum for everything else but Nesta and her girls, who deserve the highest rating possible. Love their friendships, love their fierceness, omg I'm obsessed with them in every way.

Since I'm at the end of ACOTAR at point of publication: Very much enjoying the series and getting lost in the SJM universe even more, can't wait for Azriel to get his time in the spotlight (I am now a Gywnriel shipper) but I still think TOG was a better series from a writing and plot perspective.
