This follows Harry Cane, an Englishman who immigrates to Canada in the 19th century. He is forced to flee in order to hide his sexuality, and starts a new life as a farmer in a very isolated part of Canada. I enjoyed it, it was an easy read and Harry has meaningful and genuine friendships and relationships. Some parts of the plot did feel a little silly and there were definitely some pacing issues, with all the tension in novel being resolved in the last few pages. It felt like the author ran out of steam a bit and wrapped everything up quickly. Otherwise, an enjoyable read especially if you are looking for queer historical fiction.
