it was hard to read this hearing the author's self-aggrandizing tone bleed through every page. I know this is a non-fiction/memoir(ish) book, but it reads like a novel. The book became less about the children she was hired to teach and more about the friendship she makes with one of the parents. This is ultimately a book on friendship.
That being said, if I were as close friends with the subject of the book as I say I am I would NEVER put that story into a book. It would not be something I wrote about. This book is about the parent of one of her students that becomes an aide in the class and ends up benefitting from the class like a student herself.
