Clean Sweep by E B Lee
3.0

I received a copy of this book through The Write Reads as part of the blog tour for Clean Sweep. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Clean Sweep is a book that’s going to stay with me for a long time because it was very different from what I’m used to reading. It was full of memorable characters, and I found it to be quite eye opening.

At times, this book was a bit difficult to read because it deals with some heavy topics. Some of the heavy topics it deals with is homelessness, mental health, drug use, alcoholism, and death.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book. I liked Carli and I enjoyed watching her connect with the community. I also liked a lot of the characters that she met, and I enjoyed learning about their lives. I also like and respect the work that Carli and the other volunteers are doing to help the community.

I also liked that there was a bit of a mystery running through the story. I liked reading about the characters putting the pieces together and trying to sort everything out.

This book could almost fall into the category of Christian fiction. The Church plays a role in the story and a lot of the outreach that Carli does is through Church sponsored programs. This book isn’t necessarily preachy, but Christianity does play a noticeable role in the story.

There’s something about this book that I can’t quite put my finger on that didn’t sit well with me. I think it might be that even though this book does shine a light on the homeless community and deals with some very heavy subject matter, it seemed like some of the problems were resolved too easily. I don’t quite know how to explain it, but there’s just something that didn’t sit well with me.

One final thing that I enjoyed about this book was the art. Carli is an artist and at times the author would talk about her paintings and drawings. I enjoyed these scenes and I would love to see Carli’s art.
