I think Kyra and her family were so brave to go live abroad in Italy for a year.

Kyra thought that with her husband working all over Europe it made sense to live abroad and maybe a slower life would help with her migraines.

They find a lot of obstacles during this time (such a different culture from their Manhatten lives) but they persevere and make do with their limited Italian. The whole experience is fascinating to read about.
