Something Wilder
by Christina Lauren
The daughter of a notorious treasure hunter and the boy who broke her heart are reunited years later for a treasure hunt that could change their lives. Lily Wilder is the daughter of famous treasure hunter and absentee father, Duke Wilder. Lily doesn’t like treasure hunting the only thing she ever wanted was her father’s ranch, the place filled with her happiest memories. One summer ten years ago she was the happiest she had ever been, with the boy who promised to be there for her, to never leave... only he did leave and he never called her back... and then her father sells the ranch and now ten years later Lily is strapped for cash and working as a guide for tourists leading them on fake treasure hunts through the canyons of Utah. It’s barely enough for her to get by but no way near enough for her to buy back the ranch her father sold years ago that is now being offered for her to buy. All Lily’s father left her with was his old journal and the legend that he might have found a notorious treasure. Enter Leo Grady, the boy turned man who had broken Lily’s heart who is now back. Leo and his friends take turns planning trips and when he finds himself standing in front of the first and only love of his life, he’s astounded and knows that he wants to reconnect with her, but Lily is keeping it strictly business. Lily doesn’t want to get hurt again, she can’t get hurt again, not in the way that he left her. Leo’s friends hired Lily and her partner’s tour guide to lead them on a treasure hunt but things quickly descend into chaos when an uninvited person comes along and escalates the situation... all to get to Duke Wilder’s map. Soon Lily and Leo and their friends are asking themselves just how real the treasure is and if there is a chance they could actually find it. Lily needs this treasure, it’ll help her finally get what she’s wanted, and Leo is determined to help Lily as well as to reconnect and convince her that what they have between them is real and that there was more to the situation than she thought had happened ten years ago. Soon treasure hunting commences, old wounds are open, and old feelings are rekindled as Lily and Leo work together and figure out if they’re ready to take the biggest adventure of their lives together. This was a sweet and fun read, definitely a fun Indiana Jones-esque ride and perfect for anyone who loves a good treasure hunt as well as second chance romances. Also it’s a great read to read before or after watching The Lost City of Z ( SERIOUSLY SO CUTE). Lily and Leo had so much chemistry and Leo was absolutely sweet.
