What do I say about this book? I approached it eagerly, as it had been reviewed well, but also with some trepidation, as I have read "Wicked" numerous times and still can't really tell you what it was about. This story took me a while to get into. I wanted to love it, and there were parts I did. I love the feel of Russia in the story, the fatalism and the acceptance of hardships, the magic and the coicidence. However, I found this book to be a bit of a slog. Did I love Baba Yaga? Yes. But it took me six days to read and it felt like longer.
