kitaface 's review for:
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Very cute book. Made me cry a couple times. I'm not usually into audiobooks, but LMM was a great narrator.
Overall I really liked it! Despite minor criticisms (below, with spoilers) I would definitely recommend it.
I have two criticisms. One, though it's effective at pulling at heartstrings and a reality for some people, I hate the trope of violence against queer characters. Given earlier events in the book, I think it was unnecessary to the plot here. Two, the ending felt very rushed. The revelations and conflict of the last two short chapters could have been stretched into another full section of the book.
