All Boys Aren't Blue
by George M. Johnson
4.5⭐️
Excuse me as I dry the tears off my face
This is such a beautiful book. All Boys Aren’t Blue should be read by every LGBTQ+ kid. As a white person I obviously can’t relate to the intersections of identity Johnson talks about, but hearing him talking about the queer side of things was so validating even as an adult. I wish I’d had this book when I was younger, but it brings me immense joy to know that the next generation of LGBTQ+ kids will have it. I hope this book becomes a modern classic, one that gets assigned to be read in schools. I think this would have such an impact for a younger audience. I won’t say much more, mainly because I don’t know how to talk about how All Boys Aren’t Blue made me feel, but I do think this is one that everyone should read regardless of background.
“If one person was helped by my story, then it was all worth it.” I wonder if the author knows just how much impact he’s already had, based on the reviews I’ve seen
