The Highlander's Captive was a quick read that did not satisfy. The story was too rushed in terms of character and romantic development. The attraction did not make sense. There was no connection between the reader and the characters and the main characters themselves. Mary Wine does a good job when it comes to researching the time period (as far as I'm aware) but other than that the character-plot development needs work. I also did not understand the flashes to other people's POVs. It didn't add to the plot of the main book except to maybe set up the next few books but it was not needed. The romance was sweet but it was fake.
