As a young queer person, I often find myself thinking back on all the known and unknown historical queers that came before me. This book feels like a love letter to them. It's saying "you existed, we see you" and that is perhaps the aspect of this book that stays with me the most after finishing it. The world of RW&RB gives me hope, especially at a time when women, queer people, and poc are facing an unprecedented number of harmful legislation in the US. It gives me hope that even if we can't have a world like RW&RB now, that there will come a time when a gay prince and first son could actually have a happy ending. I leave you with this quote from Sappho; "Someone, I tell you, will remember us, even in another time."
